The study conducted by our Bachelor Honours student explores theoretical concepts that can be applied to the denting of steel sheeting subjected to impact loading. The research involves the development of equations aimed at describing and predicting dent size under various impact scenarios.
To provide a practical reference, a video was sourced from YouTube showcasing a similar study related to the GOBI Collector Hail Impact Test. This video serves as an illustrative example of the principles being investigated.
The experimental results obtained from our study are then compared to the theoretical expressions derived during the research. This comparison aims to assess the accuracy and applicability of the developed equations, and to enhance our understanding of the dent formation process in steel sheeting under impact conditions. The findings are expected to contribute valuable insights into material behavior and can inform engineering practices related to impact resistance in various applications.
